T61 Slim DVD USB Enclosure?

#1 Post by robert213 » Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:42 pm

External USB Enclosure for IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T4X T6X 9.5mm DVD Optical Drive
https://www.ebay.com/itm/272823332733/
The USB 2.0 External Enclosure could assemble your original 9.5mm SATA optical drive into an external USB CD/DVD drive, it draw power from USB port and no need extra AC adapter.
Would this USB Enclosure Kit be useful in making my T61's DVD Drive be used as a USB Enclosure?

Are better USB Enclosure Kits available elsewhere?

NO. This is for SATA devices (found in T400, T410...) but in T4x, T6x we have IDE devices.

OR you could stop trying to frankenstein something together and just get a normal premade USB DVD drive which will probably work much better especially being native SATA not IDE and possibly coming with USB3.0
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
