Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
Hi there.
I've ordered a 4th batch X62 and I intend to do an LED backlit conversion on it when I receive it. Looking at Monty's guide and the few images available online of the X62 screen assembly thus far however, I'm a bit intimidated by the whole project. Are there any specific steps or precautions needed particular to the X62?
I found the potential to accidentally invert the inverter cable a bit frightening and the provided image in the guide didn't make sense to me. Could somebody clarify on that?
Thanks.

Not really, it's just like an X61.Click This wrote:Hi there.

Although the connector is not keyed, the way the cable fits in the lid makes it ~ impossible to plug in the inverter backwards accidentally. It's only an issue on the tablets as the cable is different and easy to reverse without noticing.I found the potential to accidentally invert the inverter cable a bit frightening and the provided image in the guide didn't make sense to me. Hi!
As it has long received a test kit. It looks like my LEDs are degraded. Now I can get a maximum of 40-50 nits units.
Perhaps, this problem was due to overheating.

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
I think you have a kit from before I started keeping records... which kind of kit did you have? Chinese LEDs ar Daylight?
Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
It was a long time ago. It yours first led strip, which you soldered.
I first got the converter, then the LED strip.

Oh *those* LEDs! The grey-market Chinese ones with the crazy-good-seeming measured specs and really awful-looking construction. Well... that answers how long they last, and how they got those specs
I should make you a new strip with the Nichias I found shortly after. They're much nicer, and I know they'll last.

Awful-looking construction is really a problem, or I have problems with my hands. I broke the two LEDs at the end.xiphmont wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2017 1:17 amOh *those* LEDs! LED strip smells like a toasted electrical board =)
Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
I have an iccfl kit installed on an sxga+ couple of years ago. The brightness now is lower than on a non modified screen
Could you suggest a led strip that will work directly with the modified x61 board from iccfl.com ?

That said-- I am in a work crunch through October... it might take a bit for me to get new kits packaged up. But you're definitely getting a replacement ASAP.

Very cool, when I get I'll write how it works and what the brightness turned out with my dark display.xiphmont wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2017 1:37 pmkhseal: Worry not, you are one of my heroic alpha testers, and I will send you a fully updated kit with the latest [much nicer] parts. Vavet,
iccfl has sold a bunch of completely different kits. Do you have a pic of your driver (or could you pick out the one it looks most like from https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/think ... nese.shtml ? Along with that, what sense resistors are on your driver (the biggest rectangular resistors).

Oh, oops.
I decided to step back away from social media in general and took down a bunch of pages. I was a bit overzealous; let me get those fixed.
Edit: Should be back now. Let me know if I missed anything.

Just disassembled the lid to check It's definitely a fancyboost. Exactly as the one on your page.xiphmont wrote:

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
Oh dang, those are harder. You need a ~30V LED strip and I can't make those (well I can, but I have no PCBs to do so). Does it use LEDs that fire up or sideways?vavet wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2017 2:41 pmJust disassembled the lid to check It's definitely a fancyboost. Exactly as the one on your page.xiphmont wrote:

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
what do you think about these?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-sh ... 0cdb8d196f
it works in a similar range so the led strinp might be a direct replacement

...maybe? The pics are of a buck controller though, not a boost. So it's anyone's guess.vavet wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2017 2:23 amwhat do you think about these?

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
Is it practical to do a LED mod for the HV150UX1 panel? Or is it better to buy
an HV150UX2 and just do the inverter mod?
Is a LED mod worth it for the 1920x1200 screens out there, too?
Money isn't really an issue, I'm looking mainly at technical specifications.

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
You could look for a HV150UX2 with a cracked screen and transfer its LED-strip into another LCD.
You'd need to cut a small corner (with LED-control) off the green PCB on the back of the screen and also use the flat cable from that PCB to the LEDs.
And you still need to do the inverter-mod, but no need to change the LCD cable.

I received a parcel from xiphmont.
The new version of Daylight LED Strip is fantastic.
This Daylight LED lighted up my dark display.
Color rendition is excellent for this display.
I recommend to everyone.

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
Hello everyone,
I want to ask the difference between xiphmont mod for the HV150UX1 and the factory LED HV150UX2. I have the HV150UX2 screen but I do not mind two things. First, the lowest brightness value is still too high for work in the night and secondly, PWM is known on the boards with nvidia graphics cards. Can these ailments be eliminated using xiphmont mod? Thanks.

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
I have done many LED-mods for HV150UX2-100.
Have you taken out the transformer from the inverter?
https://www.theboardroom.info/trafo.html
I have never noticed PWM, but without that trafo it might be better.
Another question: isn't the dimming different between W7, W10 and Linux?
Perhaps an OS-change might help.
Or try a program like PangoBright

Yes, transformer from inventer is gone. I have tried different operating systems and is always watching the PWM for the lowest brightness. On the Board with Intel graphics is all right.

Does anyone know where to find any mod for the X61T? XCCFL had one but they are not being listed anymore.
