Wow I think your T60 just turned into a Slot Machine and you won all 7s

Ok now seriously, that an error I haven't seen before. Nwo you say this happens after the boot splash screen, well you should pull the drive. If it stops with either a blinking cursor or a No OS error message, then you should just reinstall the operating system of your choice on their and be on your merry way after recovering/backing up any important files.

Now if it doesn't go away...well I'm stumped past a possible Mobo swap. :??:

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

He mentioned that he can boot from external drive, so either the problem is something specific to the main disk connection, or it's in software. Since he can mount the Windows partition, I assume the boot sector got corrupted (malware?). I would try a boot sector fix / repair first, and if that fails - reinstall the OS.

it seems that the bootloader was corrupted. I reinstalled linux grub bootloader from bootable usb media, now i can boot into windows / linux again.
