Lenovo T450s mouse problem

#1 Post by 03bluecoupe » Fri Jun 14, 2019 1:17 pm

Lenovo T450s Model 20BXCT01WW - No mouse pointer or control - touch screen is fine

Suddenly when I boot up, either normally or in safe mode - I get no mouse pointer on the screen and using the Trackpoint button doesn't change the focus at all.

I plugged in a wireless USB mouse and it works fine. The option to enable the Trackpad isn't displayed on the Hardware tab of
Mouse Properties either.

If I remove the USB mouse and bring up the Device Manager, "Mice and Other Pointing Devices" isn't listed...

I'm hoping it's not a toasted motherboard. Any ideas or suggestions?

System Info:

Windows 10 Home 64
Windows update status : up to date at Version 10.0.18362.175
System Update status : All Device drivers up to date
Lenovo Hardware Scan : Comprehensive Tests - all ok - cc: W1FVWTQUZ-6W72K4
Ccleaner : Clean
Malware Bytes : Clean
SuperAntiSpyware : Clean
Avast : Clean
Cache : wiped

Perhaps you could try Linux, which you don't need to install. It may tell you if it's the hardware or software.

LOL - thanks man - once upon a time I was a Unix/AIX/Linux expert but when I retired, SWMBO needed me to be her Winblows admin so I've been away from Linux for so long I probably couldn't find the /etc dir... lol - Maybe I'll get adventurous and google Linux on Winblows... ;)

Crud, was hoping someone would have a clue. Guess I'm scrod and just have to use a wireless mouse. :(

Uninstall the current mouse driver.
Reload the Synaptic or Alps driver.
Find out which one here: viewtopic.php?f=68&t=126860
No need to modify the .inf file as described there.

Ah, that link was for the touchpad. I'm trying to re-enable the track point button (the red button between the B and G/H keys. But thanks

Nope, that driver is for both mouse AND touchpad.
