SOLD!: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
SOLD!: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
I came to the conclusion that I really don't need two almost identical small systems, so I'm looking to trade one of them for a larger unit. Read on...
ThinkPad X201s (5143-28U)
i7-640LM (2.13GHz)
4GB RAM
320GB 7200rpm HD.............TBD*
12.1in 1440x900 LCD
Intel HD Graphics
Intel 802.11agn wireless
Bluetooth
Modem
1Gb Ethernet
UltraNav
Secure chip
Fingerprint reader
6c Li-Ion............................TBD**
Win7 Pro 32........................COA present and legible
Modded BIOS with whitelists removed installed
* = I have a variety of hard drives and a couple of SSDs available. Highly negotiable aspect of the transaction depending on what the potential trade offer looks like.
** = Somehow I ended up with more batteries for X20* units than I need. I can accommodate pretty much any reasonable request for one or more batteries depending on what the potential trade deal brings in for me.
Condition:
The machine is in clean shape for a ThinkPad from this era, but not perfect. There are two white pressure marks on the LCD, along with some light bleeding under the RH side of the LCD bezel. The latter could possibly be remedied by finagling around with the bezel itself, but I have neither the time nor the patience to take that route. The system runs great, the keyboard and plastic are pretty clean and I've encountered zero issues with it in daily use.
What am I looking for ?
A larger ThinkPad. My preference would be a T61p or W500 with a clean and bright WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD, but am willing to listen to other offerings as well. Might consider a T60p with an UXGA panel presuming that it's in really good shape. Incomplete but otherwise working units are welcome as well.
Cash price ?
I know I have to post one, so let's say $150 + shipping at cost with a spinning drive included.
PM or email me directly to tataslonATaol.com with any questions/concerns.

Re: FT/FS: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
Bump.
Quite surprised I am with the apparent lack of interest in the final 16:10 high resolution X series ThinkPad. This machine is light, reasonably fast and still a viable "daily traveller" system in my book.

Re: FT/FS: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
I'm very interested, but I have no larger thinkpad to trade and I haven't been able to justify this machine to myself when I already have an x301 and an x61s, both of which I like and don't really want to sell.
Best of luck. Someone should grab this so I can stop being tempted.

First and foremost, thank you for the kind words...
Understood, given that I own an X60 tablet with a 1400x1050 panel as well as an X200s with 1440x900...which is the exact reason that I put this little guy out to be traded or sold...violajack wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 12:35 pmI'm very interested, but I have no larger thinkpad to trade and I haven't been able to justify this machine to myself when I already have an x301 and an x61s, both of which I like and don't really want to sell.

Re: FT/FS: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
I happen to have a T500 that I wanted to turn into a daily driver but my plans have changed. It only has a WSXGA+, so knowing your requirements you might want to grab a cheap Sharp panel from eBay. Send me a PM if interested. I might consider trading for the X201s. I remember how desirable (and expensive!) these were back in the day. Might be worth adding to the collection.
Daily: Custom Mini-ITX (Ryzen 5, A2000 12GB, 3:2)
ThinkPads: 600X (i3), A31p (FlexView), T43, T60 (FlexView), T61p (4:3), R61 (QXGA), X301 (AFFS), W500, X1

If only the pond doesn't block the transit I'd happily trade one of my T61ps for this one
Too many thinkpads not enough time!

I may be receiving a WUXGA T61p in about two weeks, would you be interested in that?

Alternatively, would you take around can't say this apparently for a "barebones" machine (no ram, hdd, one battery, etc)? Assuming the T61p deal doesn't play out.ajkula66 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 2:01 pmAs long as the screen is in acceptable shape and the GPU isn't failing, sure.TheForgottenKing wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 1:30 pmI may be receiving a WUXGA T61p in about two weeks, would you be interested in that?

Re: FT/FS: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
Grrrrrr.....
I have been absolutely, positively, and purposely avoiding checking out this posting, and hoping against hope that SOMEONE would purchase this and make the temptation disappear, since I need another 12" lappie like I need a hole in the head.....
However, the mere thought of the OP having, in his possession, the ONE variant of the x2x series that I still require to fill a vacant slot in my collection is driving me to distraction .... and since my willpower to resist such temptations is approaching its' nadir and I can FINALLY no longer resist.....
PM en route!
Dave

Re: FT/FS: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
Quick information question:
Is Bluetooth actually working on this machine? I could NEVER get Bluetooth working on an X201s after installing an Intel 802.11agn card in it. If you have Bluetooth actually working, could you tell us which Intel card you're using?
Thanks for any info...

The card is stock Intel 6200. I just connected the laptop to my Blackberry for the first time, since I *never* use BT for anything. All seems well.
