I need a T500 driver for Lenovo PM

#1 Post by MikalE » Wed Jul 10, 2019 4:29 pm

Does anyone have a copy of this driver for Lenovo Power Manager? This is to get my on-screen display working again on my T500 after an O/S reload. I cannot find anything older than 1.67.14.05

The newer drivers do not work for the on-screen display.

Power Management Driver n20ku10w.exe 1.67.14.04.

I'd really appreciate it.

The link for drivers and documents for end of life Lenovo product is https://download.lenovo.com/eol/

After opening the page for the Thinkpad T500, the Power Management Driver listed is 1.67.04.05, located at http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... ku09ww.exe. This driver is listed as supporting Windows XP through Windows 8.1. There are many newer Power Management Drivers but I don't know which is the latest that actually works on a T500.

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n20ku10w.txt contains version information all the way back to 2008. You can use that to locate and try drivers newer than 1.67.04.05 if you wish.

Well thanks for all of that information, but the driver I need is older than any of those found on the archived drivers page at Lenovo. .05 isn't going to work. I need the driver ending in .04.

Power Management Driver n20ku10w.exe 1.67.14.04 rev 01 was released 2018/05/14

Power Management Driver gtku09ew 1.67.04.05 was released 2014/08/12 so it is more than 3 1/2 years older than 1.67.14.04. The last two digits of the version number are least significant, marking a minor revision.

If you use the last link I provided to get the text file, it will show you the releases from late 2018 all the way back to 2008.

I was mistaken about age being related to version number, but regardless, it seems according to those that have had the same trouble I'm having, report that the version ending in .04 is the only driver that fixes this problem with the T500.

Thanks for your help. I will check the last link.

Here is the list of recent Power Manager releases. As you can see there is a revision number in addition to the Build ID. For 1.67.14.04 there are three different build ID's and five revisions, at least for n20ku09w. So of the ten variations of 1.67.14.04, which one do you want? Note that there are 32 bit and 64 bit separate downloads and I am assuming you want the 64 bit package.

n20ku08w is available at https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobi ... 8w_x64.exe
n20ku09w is available at https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobi ... 9w_x64.exe
n20ku10w is available at https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobi ... 0w_x64.exe

If you want the 32 bit package substitute x32 for x64 in the links above.

Code: Select all

Package Build ID Rev. Issue Date
  1.67.16.20 n2hku03w 02 2019/04/18

Thank you. I installed the .04 driver but it had no effect on the on-screen display.

I know this is a perplexing issue for many TP owners that have reloaded the O/S without a system disc. This happened with a T530 and a T520 too, but I was able to fix both of those with the correct drivers. The correct driver for the T500 seems to be a bit more elusive.

I have checked the usual items such as making certain the appropriate services have started, the option is enabled in display properties, etc, etc, ad nauseam without any success on this machine.

It's not that important that I get it working, it was just a challenge to do so, but I can live without the feature. The hotkeys still work, there is just no display on the screen to allow me to view the settings.

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T ... 198/page/7

The link above is a Lenovo forum discussion of this issue. Driver package 1.67.14.07 was evidently released to fix this problem. The revision notes are below.

1.67.14.07>(n20ku13w)
- (Fix) Fixed an issue that Hotkey/OnScreenDisplay function may not work on
Windows 7.

n20ku13w is at https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobi ... 3w_x64.exe

The Lenovo forum thread indicates that it may be necessary to reboot the computer twice after installing 1.67.14.07 to get it running right. If you know a magic chant, try that too.

If 1.67.14.07 doesn't work there is one newer driver to try, 1.67.16.20. The download link is below.
https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobi ... 3w_x64.exe

If the two newest drivers fail, you can begin regressing back to drivers older than 1.67.14.04 until you find one that works. Maybe all this would take more time than it's worth - only you can decide that.

I will try the driver in your link. And thank you.

I've tried drivers all the way back to XP Pro64 including Win 2000, and ME with no success. Maybe this one will be the magic driver. I'll whip up a Gregorian chant too before the reboot.

Thanks.

Maybe it's 'hidden' on some Lenovo R400/T400/R500/T500/W500 Restore Disk?
Have you tried any of these? https://support.lenovo.com/ie/en/downloads/ds014924

I would have to check later. I'm on the T520 this morning. The T500 is used in the evenings.

I'm beginning to wonder if there really is a restore disc out there somewhere. I thought Lenovo stopped including restore discs with systems back in their IBM days. I remember having one for a desktop Aptiva 166 I had a long time ago.
