How much is a W700 worth?

#1 Post by martin_boro » Wed Aug 07, 2019 1:55 pm

HI,

I have an possibility to buy a W700 for a fairly good price of 40 eur, apparently working, but I will ask for some proof later.
BUT, from the single photo I have at the moment, it appears that it doesn't have a display and the number pad has a key missing, otherwise, it looks pretty good.
Other than that, it does have an Intel Centrino sticker, so let's assume that it's the lowest spec.

Is this a good value?

That's a steal.

Normally you'd not be able to buy half a working mobo for this model.

I recently bought a pristine W700 (2752 RZ2 - WUXGA) from the British Columbia government's auction site. Price came to $127, including adapter, dead battery, no operating system, shipped to New York state.
They have a lot of IT equipment on sale, including Thinkpads. Much of it is in lots, but there are also individual units. Listings are updated regularly.
Happy hunting.

Thanks, I just basically needed the final push.
I actually ended up buying a "working" X301 and a Z61p too. I paid ~110eur in total, which is pretty nice I guess.

The last thing is to find a working W700 adapter, since I don't have anything to test it out with.

I will post some photos when they arrive

Well, the joke is on you, because I found one. 230W and it even came with the docking station. Worth every cent of the 15 eur I paid for it :D .
And well, the darn thing works!

Which kinda leaves me wanting to restore it. It's missing a few things, most importantly the display, the numerical keyboard is missing a key and a whole bunch of screws that used to hold it together.
I probably live with the missing key and I could salvage the screws from a dead T400, but the display is kind of a big deal for me.

How much would be a 1080p used panel? 900p seems like a waste.

Call yourself lucky. Getting a genuine one usually takes the likes of 40-50€

There's no 1080p display for W700. WUXGA (1920x1200), but I have no clue about the cost.
