X61 SXGA+ when to flash bios

#1 Post by la-luva » Tue Dec 17, 2019 10:41 am

When is the best time to flash sxga+ bios when upgrading?

Can i flash when xga lcd is still fitted?
Or will picture dissappear if i do so?

Or can i mount sxga+ lcd on motherboard with original bios and still get picture and stability to flash sxga+ bios?

Thanks in advance.

This, just flash the X61 Middleton BIOS.
Research the topic in this sub-forum, the SXGA+ is not just a drop-in replacement.

Here is what i did.
First modified the sxga+ lcd so that it would fit into the X61s lcd bezel/cover and did led mod.
Then i put it back on the X61s base, but did not connect the ribbon for the lcd.
Connected an eksternal screen to the vga output, and flashed modified bios.
Shut down computer, connected sxga+ lcd and fitted everything togheter.
It was succsess.
