Thinkpad x200 locked BIOS and trackpoint not working
Hi everyone,
Got my x200 in from ebay. The seller said you needed an external mouse and the keyboard had missing keys. So I replaced the keyboard.
Trackpoint is still not working. Says it's enabled in BIOS. Haven't tried a live image yet.
The BIOS is locked.
I'm thinking about Librebooting it anyway but is there an easy way to unlock the factory BIOS? Any ideas on the Trackpoint?
Thanks,
Teran

Ok, I reset the BIOS password.
Booted up a Linux live image and the trackpoint still is not working. It's enabled in the BIOS. And this is a new keyboard, so I am puzzled.

It was this: /viewtopic.php?f=43&t=100537
The fuse, F7, next to the keyboard connector. It had blown. It's the one blue-ish component near it.
Somehow, with a pen style unregulated soldering iron and a fat tip, I managed to desolder the fuse and put a bead of solder there.
And it works. I am elated.

Good that you got it going.
Much better if you would put a proper fuse there.
Otherwise next time it'll probably blow the motherboard...

I agree. I don't have the right soldering station for that and maybe not the skills. But down the road I definitely should.
These laptops are so nicely built. Can't believe I didn't start using them sooner.
