Adding an RS-232 connector to a T61

#1 Post by GunslingerThink » Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:55 am

What could be done to add a working COM-port to the machine having a soldering iron and this thing? I was thinking about that middle connector in the Ultrabay Slim that is utilized with Ultrabay serial/parallel adapter. Does anyone know its pinout?

Also, can the middle connector be used simultaneously with the left one (ATA)? I have an HDD adaptor there.

T60 schematics here: http://plan9.stanleylieber.com/hardware ... matics.pdf
Pinout is on page 35.
They use the same on T61.

You can also get a Parallel/Serial adapter to go in the T6x Ultrabay, P/N 40Y8121

You can see how this is handled on the 15.0" T60 interposer card.

Alternatively use a dock (2504) and retain your UB hdd adaptor.

The Mini-Dock is the better choice for most requirements (unless you need a card reader, extra Ultrabay or the PCIe slot).
