T-42 owners with Flexview

I trying to find out what to do. I love my 2379DXU except i'm geeting this slight shadow effect on the screen on the left & mostly right side. When looking straight on at the screen it appears your looking at it at a slight angle. You see it when the screen has a white background.
Do i send it back or is this normal? I really need some guidance on this.

I'm leaning towards normal, am I correct to say the color still remains accurate however, and this shadowing is very slight? I would hardly say it is like looking at a non flexview at an angle. It should be purely a decrease in intensity, not affecting color or readability. It seems not any different than any other desktop LCDs and isn't intrusive in that readability is fine (some posters here are really sensitive, however, and I thought I was sensitive

). Most LCD screens dropoff slightly in brightness near the edges naturally. I doubt it will show up if I took a picture of it.

If what you see is wholly disagreeable it could be possible you have an issue. But it's really hard to make sure we are on the same page like this

. I'd say it is similar in magnitude but not in abruptness to the shadowing on http://webmail.att.net.

You hit it right on. Color remains fine. It makes white look "dirty".
This is my first laptop so i have no reference. I just know my 19" Planar desktop moniter does not do it. Would i be more disapointed with the 14"?
I am way to picky for my own good:)

Flexview is an IPS (In-Plane Switching) display. It is brighter, has wider viewing angles and better color, but draws more power and has slower response time (ghosting) than the regular displays. It is only available on 15" models with SXGA+ and UXGA resolutions.

gg3761 - you have to remember that desktop LCD's usually have 4 or more lamps to achieve a perfect looking screen in regards to lighting.
Laptops only have one lamp, usually on the bottom of the display and their lighting is far from perfect. It will never appear as good as a desk-top LCD. Some slight dimming to the sides and top is to be expected. If it is really noticeable or extremely different, then perhaps the display is not up to par. Only you can judge that, unless you want to open a service ticket and have IBM look at it.

It seems to be normal.

Did you also notice small brighter line on the bottom of the screen, covering 1/3 of Windows taskbar ? It is noticable in full screen mode of IE.
