Replacing base cover on X60s - does the FRU matter?

#1 Post by zodiac » Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:39 am

Hello everyone,

I need to replace the base cover on my X60s since I chipped an edge off when I dropped it from the table.

Now my question is - I see a lot of X60s base covers around on eBay with a lot of different FRUs. But does the FRU matter or will they all fit? Cause I have a hard time finding out mine...

Another issue is - the drop also broke the flap on my PCMCIA slot. Does that come as a replacement with the new base cover? Or is it part of the bezel? Because I am worried about dirt entering through the slot. So what do you think of just putting a dummy card inside of the slot, when I dont need it (barely rarely)?

Cheers,
Martin

The PCMCIA cover is part of the keyboard bezel.

Pick any one of these:

The thing is, I dont really want to get a new keyboard bezel just for the flap to be honest. So will a PCMCIA dummy do the same job, means keeping the dust out?

Also thanks for that extensive list - the FRU obviously does not seem to matter then.

Yep, a filler card will work fine.
