You need 'Hotkey Features'. You linked to a T42 page, I assume that is your model ThinkPad.

Yes it is a t42 it's a 2374 cto.
I installed system update and it did not install this driver. Am I doing something wrong?
It did before, and I must mention, that although I can access the "accesss ibm" menu only through the desktop shortcuts, and not through the blue button on the keyboard. I hope this driver fixes this.
What's the link for the battery management wizard?

You need the following for the Access IBM button to work in Windows: Access Help online User's Guide {from your link above}
The Access IBM button should still work at boot up, but if it does not, you need to restore the MBR with the Rescue and Recovery - Recovery Repair Media.

EDIT: I see they offer this in CD format as well as diskette. Previously it was only available on diskette.

Re: Driver for on screen notification and battery management?
well after a bit of work, I reinstalled via the factory partition recovery.
My first mistake was to download and use the latest system update program.
This time I'm going to leave it as is and maybe install some bios updates and leave it at that.
