T60 slow to connect to network when waking from suspend

#1 Post by Muse » Tue Nov 01, 2011 7:16 am

It's not a huge issue, but it's a real annoyance. My T61 when waking from suspend connects to my wireless LAN very quickly, seemingly around 5 seconds or less. But my T60, with its Atheros wireless adapter, takes around 20 seconds, maybe more. Is there anything I can do to speed up the T60 here? The settings in Control Panel are all set at the defaults, I've never tweaked them.

You should disconnect wifi before changing to sleep or suspend.
It still uses power, and can even wake up the laptop inadvertently!

I put my laptops (the T60 and T61) into suspend by closing the covers. You are saying that the laptops will draw more power because the wifi hasn't been disconnected. What are you suggesting? I could right click the icon in the tray and select disable. Would that speed up reconnection when the machine is taken out of suspend?

I've tested power draw of the laptops (well, at least one of them) when in suspend using my Kill-a-watt and it's been very low, around 1 watt IIRC.
