Thinkpads with IPS screen

#1 Post by Goose77 » Wed Nov 02, 2011 5:00 pm

I need a laptop for graphic design work but it's really difficult to find a laptop with good screen these days. As far as I'm aware only x220 has IPS option, but it's too small for me. I know that HP has Elitebook with dreamcolor display but at 17" it's a tad too big (not to mention very pricy - being a non-professional my budget is limited). Lenovo salesperson told me that X1's have IPS display but I think she was mistaken.

Used T60p is a possibility but I'd like to avoid used computers if I can.

Suggestions? Is there ANY ~$1000 laptop with 14"~15" IPS display? Should I wait and see if IPS screens are making a comeback in laptop space?

Thank you. M4600 is perfect, spec-wise. It's a bit more than I was willing to spend (nearly $2000 with IPS display option) but it seems worth saving for.

Keep an eye on the Dell Outlet; although there are no M4600 laptops there now, they do show up and a call to Dell but snag one. I have been a satisfied customer of the outlet, the Latitudes will come with a 3 year warranty, and the savings can be considerable. Sign up for the frequent coupons they send an an additional 15-20% savings can be had.
