#1 Post by markspraggins » Sun Nov 06, 2011 4:08 pm

Z61m hangs at "Starting PC DOS". I have used CD-ROM to repair windows. Any suggestions please. It's drining me mad. I have another HDD that boots the machine perfectly OK. Thanks

Instead of repairing, have you tried a new installation of Windows? Or do you have a specific reason for trying to repair?

Thanks Virge. My issue is that there are a number of programs for which I do not now have the original installation discs and that I need to keep for now.

I've never seen the message "Starting PC DOS" on any of my machines. Is this a cloned drive of some sort? A Google search references quite a few links to Norton Ghost.

Run the disk diagnostic built into the BIOS (on the main bios screen)
