Angry Birds makes my X200 hot!

#1 Post by emeraldgirl08 » Tue Nov 08, 2011 9:33 am

Yep the title says it all! I was curious about the game so I downloaded it through google apps. I am able to play it for two or three minutes and then the fan will start to rev up and my laptop will get ready for takeoff! After 5 mins the fan will be spinning at what sounds like full blast. Sunday I played it for 30 mins and when I put my fingers around the fan exhaust it was very very hot! :? I was left wondering how people play this game on their machines?!

I'm wondering if my integrated graphics are at fault here? My machine is the X200 w/2.4ghz, 4gb of RAM, and Intel X4500MHD. Anyone who play this on chrome have a problem playing this game on their machine (if X4500MHD)??? TIA.

Flash (I assume this is a flash-based version) is a terrible platform with almost everything built on it ending up as a buggy resource hog.

Just in case, try a different browser.

@dr_st. I find it strange how I can play Portal (at very low settings >.< ) on my X200 but an angry birds game in 2-D seems almost taxing my system. Terrible and utterly moronic piece of software coding! :x The developers must assume that everyone who plays the game has SLI graphics that have 2 to 4gb of VRAM!

*vent done*

I will take your advice and look for the game elsewhere. I just found it convenient how google integrated it into their apps. I will run it on my R60 (with ATI X1300) and see how it goes when I go home for the weekend. Perhaps discrete vs integrated will make some difference. Thanks for responding :)
