Best LCD Panel
I've recently acquired a 14" T43 2668 from a computer recycle center and built it back up. I've already done the SATA mod and have a 9-cell battery for it. I would like to upgrade the LCD panel next. Right now I've got the XGA screen which seems to have a very bad viewing angle. I would like a SXGA+ panel but I would really just like some thing with better viewing angle. I know that most people upgrade to SXGA+ by buying a full top half from another T4x. Instead, I would like to know what third-party panels would be a better option. I tend to use it for watching movies and looking at photos and the blacks look horrible on this screen. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
For a 14" unit, you may as well stay with OEM panels - no third-party LCD will perform better - they're all coventional TN screens that leave a lot to be desired when it comes to viewing angles.

Re: Best LCD Panel
None of the 3rd party screens work. T4x uses a non-standard pinout

Do the SXGA+ panels tend to be a little better? I've got an IdeaPad S10 that has a TN panel but it seems to be a lot better than this one. Otherwise I love this machine

Re: Best LCD Panel
S10 also has a far smaller screen where the imperfections don't show quite as well...
Honestly, if you're looking for good viewing angles and better colour reproduction, trade that machine in for a 15" IPS T42/p, T43/p or R50p. For a few bucks more you'll get what you're looking for right out of the box.
Or, add more $$$ and get a 15" T60/p with an IPS or AFFS LCD.
