amberlight on the bottom of my lap top

#1 Post by Judy » Fri Apr 08, 2005 10:19 am

Hi, I am a baby to all of this. I received a rebuilt thinkpad 390X a few days ago. Of course, being a rebuilt, it came with no instructions, and I am the Lucille Ball of electronics. I had to remove my battery after two days of having the computer because I was getting several warning messages. Now though, as I use the laptop with the plug, I notice that the amber light on the bottom of the maching remains on as soon as I start it until I shut down and unplug it. Is this a problem? I was told that it should not be on at all. Thanks for bearing with me and my newbe stuff! Judy

Is it over by the cd/floppy? Most thinkpads have an ultrabay light, that stays on when it is not safe to remove the ultrabay device.

No, this is the light underneath the laptop between the 2 latches. You use one of the latches as you remove the battery on the side. Is this an emergency light? If so, why would it still be on even after the battery was removed?

That's the Ultrabay FX LED, when it's illuminated it means that the Ultrabay device shouldn't be removed!
