Anyone know of a good pdf creation program?

#1 Post by Nigellus » Mon Nov 14, 2011 9:48 pm

All I need is something to convert documents and images to pdf files with a simple interface.

Does such a program exist for free? My google-fu has failed me on this one.

I already tried PrimoPDF, but it doesn't do anything AND freezes my OS every time I try to do anything with it.
T420 i5-2520M 2.50GHz 4 GB RAM 64-bit OS WIN7pro SP1

T60 1951-46U Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz 1 GB RAM 60 GB XPpro

TP 600E 2645 PII 366MHZ 160MB RAM 37.2GB WIN98SE

Computers do exactly what you tell them at amazing speeds; this can be bad if what you told them wasn't what you had in mind.

I use Free PDF creator, it has always worked well for me. If you are using office 2007 or 2010 or openoffice, PDF export is built right into the program.

Free pdf is a good program if your need for PDF creation is simple.
Current ThinkPad: T430u, T430s, X1 Carbon, X1, X230t, X220t, X230, X220, X201t, W520, W701ds, T500, T420 and many more

Used to use PDF Creator, it's got many configuration options but at the same time, one can leave them alone and use the defaults.

You may also look at CutePDF, Bullzip and doPDF...

Beware some of these free programs will ask you to install some toolbars which help to generate some money for the authors. It's up to you whether to install them or not.

Also discussed about it at Wilders earlier this year... http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=300956

Cheers.

All I need is something that can convert scanned documents (basically, image files) to a pdf document that is then stored on my hard drive.

... another vote for the free doPDF - I've been using it on several ThinkPad's (T42's, T60's under XP as well as Windows 7) with no problems.

Thanks Johan, this is something I have needed for a while. I have downloaded it 20 minutes ago, then 5 minutes ago got a new document which would only allow me to print.

I used the new program and 'hey presto', I now have it in pdf format!

I love this forum.

Kind regards

Walter

(ps I should be cloning that disk this week!)
