T60P SSD compatibility.
T60P SSD compatibility.
Dear all,
I want to upgrade my T60P to an SSD for OS and will use an HDD caddy for the current mechanical drive.
I need to know from the users here which drives are compatible in T60P 2623 D8U. Specs herehttp://www.epinions.com/specs/IBM_Lenov ... Notebook_1.
Is this Toshiba drive compatible http://i56.tinypic.com/10o4mty.jpg?
Thanks to all in advance.

Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
As far as I know every 2.5inch SATA SSD will fit into your T60p.
In my T60 I use an Intel 320 2.5inch model.

Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
Thanks, however it will be useful to have some inputs from people with the same exact model (T60p 2623 D8U) as I have read some horror stories of the drive not fitting the bay.

Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
I changed my old drive with an OCZ Vertex 2, 120 GB on my T60. It's bit of a tight fit, but works fine.
I described the process here:

Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
umm.. like user lop* said ...MSOT ALL ssd WILL fit your T60...
I have 3 txx series machine all with different 'makes' of SSD , and they ALL WORK FINE
(depends on your skill set in cofig and doing the rest etc)
.....there are lots & lots of pple who have either NO IDEA of how to config and or install/run SSD successfully in my laptop ; let along an older T60 machine....etc etc ,,,, so not sure its worth while reading/panic over those.
....I have even SSD + mSATA drive in a T series machine - works very very nicely....you can also see some other 'setups' in my sig file below...
Cheers

Gr8. thanks for all your replies.
I have now the choice between these three. Please advice which one to go for. They all are for the same price as of today.
Intel® SSD 320 Series (80GB, 2.5in SATA 3Gb/s, 25nm, MLC)
Toshiba http://i56.tinypic.com/10o4mty.jpg
Intel X25-M 80GB SSD SSDSA2MH080G1HP
Thanks in advance

Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
First, for your information, the Intel X25-M SSD you link to is a 50 nm, 1st generation SSD (indicated by the "G1" in the model number), and it will not support TRIM, which you'd most likely would want to be able to, at least if you at some point choose to upgrade to Windows 7 (Google yourself for "Windows 7 + TRIM"). The Intel 320-series SSD is one of the newest Intel SSD's, and comes with an impressive 5-year warranty, if you buy from new (and I guess that you'll need to buy from a recognized/authorized dealer, and obtain an official receipt, if order to invoke the warranty, if ever needing to). See the fine user-feedback for the 320-sereis Intel SSD' e.g. at Newegg.com or Amazon.com.jam_27 wrote:I have now the choice between these three. Please advice which one to go for. The datasheet for the Toshiba drive you point to (this drive being the THNSNC128GBSJ) can be found here - try for yourself to compare its specifications one by one against the Intel 320, and then make your decision. The Toshiba is 128 GB vs. the two other "only" being 80 GB (which may be by far enough for most normal users). However, there has been some debate over Toshiba SSD's not supporting TRIM; see e.g. Toshiba SSD TRIM Firmware upgrade? and TOSHIBA SSD PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS AND TRIM SUPPORT so I suggest you look a bit into that before making your decision.

Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
Great info. We have such great people here. Thanks to all again.
Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
I had an intel x-25m in my t60p with xp for a couple of years. Non aligned it still provided a nice 30% or so speed boost. Plus power savings.
I used the intel ssd management tool top do the trim function weekly.

Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
I just bought an Intel 320 120gb SSD for ~$208 shipped off Amazon. Can't wait!
Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
You'll love the speed increase. Rejuvenate your thinkpad it will.
Re: T60P SSD compatibility.
Yes the speed gain is amazing. If you think about it, it was mostly the HDDs slowing down the machines, even in an T42p with IDE only.
