boot cd-rom pb

hello

i have a thinkpad 600e 2645-4bu and i want to install windows me,
(i know, is not the best but its the only that i have )
my startup is : cd-rom, hdd1
but i have a 8611 ( a trackpoint problem) but i can bypass it if i press the f1 key,
but the computer have one of this reaction:
-restart to the easy setup menu in bios
-''invalid system disk, replace disk and them press any key''
-I9990305

configuration: 128 mg ram
10g hdd
400mhz p2 processor


Help me please!!!

p.s. you can talk me french or english ( sorry for the grammar )

OS install

IF you have an OS on the HDD already and can Boot to it, you can install from the CDROM. Boot-up, put ME disk in and go to MY Computer, select the CDROM an follow inst.
If that's not possible, from shutdown, open the CDROM tray and insert ME disk, and start the Laptop. It may take several try's. I've done that with Win. 2K, don't know about ME.

i change some little thing about the startup in the bios but nothing

i continue ti try again
