Obtaining the OEM CD
Obtaining the OEM CD
I just purchased a T42, and I was wondering if any of you guys know if and where I can obtain a OEM CD. I find it weird that IBM doesn't ship its computers with OEM CDs like most other companies, but I heard/read somewhere that you can request for one within 30days of purchase. FYI Windows XP Pro is preloaded on my thinkpad. Thanks.

YOu can use Access IBM to create recovery CDs. 7 CDs or 1 CD and 1 DVD. Make sure you do this before anything else.
Also you can create just Windows XP CD using i386 in your C drive.
There is a sticky in the the T series forum on instructions how to do this.

You can always requested the CD's from IBM, you can get them free of cost as long as the machine is in warranty (at least that's how it worked for me). Just say that you lost all of your data and that you cannot access the rescue partition.
