Intermittent problems posting on forums

I have this problem which seems to be plaguing one of my laptops.

Very often, when I attempt to post on the forums, the browser (Firefox) gets stuck "waiting for forum.thinkpads.com" and eventually times out.

Sometimes retrying works, but requires a few tries. Sometimes after a while I see that the post has actually been sent, but it times out before taking me to the next page - if I reload the topic I see my post there...

It seems to only happen on this one computer I'm currently using. I am almost certain I've seen it happen on IE as well. I'm really stumped, because none of the other computers using the same network behind the same router have this issue. I tried cleaning the cookies, the browser cache, and searching for malware (found none).

The problem only happens when I'm about too post (I'm pretty sure this post will time out too). Never experiencing any time-outs just browsing the forums. I also haven't experienced it on other forums besides these (although I don't post on many of them these days).

Has anyone ever experienced something similar and can shed some light onto the issue?

Most of the time when I post (or click on a link in the forum) and it doesn't take affect right away, I attribute the problem to the site's server(s). I say this because I can get responses from other resources on the web while my request to forum.thinkpads.com is still being processed. Some cases I can stop the current page request and re-submit it and it works right away. Other times it doesn't matter how many times I reload / submit; only a wait of a minute or two gets it working again. I use three different systems during the day (two Firefox 8 and one Chrome; at work a T23 w/Firefox [wireless], home is an A31p/Firefox [wired] and X60/Chrome [wireless]) and it can happen on any of them. Like you, I too sometimes see that the request has been received by the forum but I don't get any visible response to my browser (i.e., reloading the thread shows my post). In my experience, both postings and browsing can be interrupted in this manner. I've not tried clearing the browser's cache / cookies when this happens to me as I think the problem is outside my own network.
