Why has the X220s price gone up so much?
Why has the X220s price gone up so much?
The price of the customized model I've been looking at has gone up by nearly $500. It's at the highest price I've ever seen and I've been watching this for well over 6 months now. I thought there were supposed to be sales at this time of year.

My guess is due to the floods in Thailand. The cost of hard drives has gone up substantially. So I think many of the models either feature a SSD or an atypically expensive hard drive.
ThinkPad x220 - i5 2520, IPS, 8GB Ram, 80GB mSata, 320GB HDD, FPR, Bluetooth, Intel 6205 wireless

So why has the base price gone up? It's still far more expensive even if I go with an SSD.

Re: Why has the X220s price gone up so much?
The prices are currently ridiculous, I agree.
I was thinking about spending ~$700 on what would have been my first brand new thinkpad, but nowadays that won't even get me a used x220.
The only reason I can think of is demand. Lenovo must be selling a lot of them. If the high price sticks, then I probably won't own an x220 for at least 2 more years.
Guess I'll just have to hang on to my T60 for a while longer

I am only considering notebooks with an IPS screen (which is the reason I have my current T60).
