R31 Restore CD's (help!)

#1 Post by djspoof » Sun Apr 10, 2005 11:40 am

I've tried everything I can think of to fix my R31 2656-2HU laptop except get ahold of the actual Restore CD's from IBM, but I don't know how or where to go about getting them. I wondered if anyone could point me to a place I could purchase them or if someone had some and was super nice and wanted to share with me. If someone does happen to have the restore CD's I would pay you for them. I need my sound problem fixed! I installed every driver, supplement and update I could find and it still has the problem. Sometimes it's better and I think it's fixed, but it never is. I just want to try the restore disc's. I'm desperate.

when i upgraded the hd on my r40, i lost the hidden restore partition on the original hd, and i didn't have any restore cds.

all i did was ring tech support and asked if they could post the restore cds to be, and they did, free of charge. i had to give the model details and serial number etc, but it was quick and painless, so it's worth a shot. :)

Ooh! That's beautiful. That's the kinda help I'm looking for! They posted them somewhere to download them temporarily? That would be perfect! Now I just have to figure out a way to contact them. Their site confuses me so much. I'll surely find it though. I'll be calling them immediately after work for it. Oh man I'm so excited. I didn't want the weird partition anyways! I hope this fixes it! Thanks!

In this instance "post" probably means mail!

well that didn't work. i sat on my cell phone wasting minutes away while this guy took all sorts of my information before asking what he could do to help. then when he finally asked he said im out of warranty and he can't offer me any help and or suggestions and that it would cost $45 for restore cd's that may or may not work to fix my audio problem. not gonna happen. im not rich enough to be able to do something like that just to see if it MAY work. :( man this sucks. does anyone have the R31 restore CD's they could copy or make an image file and aim it to me? my aim screen name is 'djspoof' i'll pay reasonably for them and i have paypal!
