Trade: 14" SXGA+ for 14" XGA - R51

Well hopefully I can finally finish this project. I am in need of a 14" XGA screen for my R51. I would like to trade as the subject name. If not, looking for a cheap complete lid.

I originally bought this from ajkula66 a while ago but never got around to completing it. Now that I'm in need for a spare computer, I could not get it to work. The screen is fine, no problems. My project was swapping an R51 with ATI gpu to recognize the SXGA+ screen. Many posts stated it would work as long as it was not the Intel chip. oh well....

If that SXGA+ screen is working OK in other machines, but not in your R51, then your R51 must have a problem.
Any T4x/R5x ATI-based motherboard will drive XGA, SXGA+ and even UXGA.

At some point I will be offering an XGA lid assembly that's free of any screen blemishes, on a 14" 4:3 t61.

I suspect the lid assembly won't fit your unit, I believe the roll cage and hinges are different, but I'm not that familiar with the R51 line.

RBS, I don't have another machine to test the screen other than the two R51's that I have. I did however swap the screen in my complete R51 (14" XGA) back and forth, it worked like it should. The MB's on the both the R51 are the same but the bases are different. One of the bases is an R51e and that is the one I left the good lcd on (for the wifey). Since I have the dock for T/R series I currently have a monitor attached on my desk.

TuuS, thanks for the info. I'm not sure if they are compatible, but I will start the research in a few moments. Unless someone beats me and would like to chime in. It would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: From my brief search (I will continue some more), I have found that some T60 had a Samsung panel that were also in the R51. Specifically the Samsung LTN141XA L01. There is also a panel from CMO that has almost the same panel except for the last character in the part number. I am not 100% sure they are the same panel but used a different character for a different computer model. The R51 LCD part# is N141X7 and the T60 LCD part# is N141XC.

TuuS, the Thinkiwiki states no T61 came with XGA panels. But if the T60 have at least one panel in common, I think it would work.

I have a T43 XGA screen, would that work with your R52 ?

TuuS, the Thinkiwiki states no T61 came with XGA panels.

Sounds like someone should edit that wiki page, because the 4:3 aspect ration models came with XGA and SXGA 14.1" screens. Mine has the XGA. They aren't very common because most T61 units have widescreen, but they do exist.

I'll see if I can do a parts lookup on it.
