T500 WSXGA+ screen flickering issue

Hi all,
I have a very annoying problem with my T500 WSXGA+ screen.
Its brightness flickers continually and, after some time it is on, the bottom-left part of the screen becomes purple.
I changed the driver of the screen, since I thought that it was the source of the flickering but without any success.
Can I deduce then that it is the screen that has a problem or there are other components that I have to take into account?

It sounds like the screen and not the software. I am guessing that the backlight is nearing death.

Yes richk,
it was the screen. I replaced it with a new unit and everything went fine.

P.s. For driver I meant the backlight driver, i.e., the LCD inverter.
