Are the SXGA+ displays on the x60T and x61T identical?

X60/X61 series specific matters only.

Are the SXGA+ displays on the x60T and x61T identical?

#1 Post by jheronymo » Tue Jan 03, 2012 11:08 am

Quick question: is the SXGA+ panel on the x60 tablet identical to the AFFS-IPS on the x61 tablet? Also, are the sxga+ tablets wacom digitizer only, or can fingers be used to navigate them as well?

Thanks

All SXGA+ tablets are pen-only.

The panels are not the same but they are interchangeable. It's the digitizer layer which is different if I remember correctly.

The digitizer is different (requiring differing cable length), but they're easy enough to switch out. I suppose I should note that the screen from the x60 tablet is the one you want to get as the x61 screen has a tendency to develop air bubbles. (See here)

To be clear, they are both using Boe-Hydis AFFS-IPS screens, correct? One of the reasons I'm interested in the SXGA+ screens is the capability to watch x264 HD video (1400x1050 is perfect 4:3 Blu-ray rips) but the GMA 950 on the x60 isn't going to cut it for that.

Is it possible to buy a x61 tablet with the normal XGA display, and replace that with a SXGA+ display from the x60 tablet? If possible that actually sounds the best and cheapest way to get what I'm looking for in these laptops.

Yes you can, but check out about digitizer cables and/or panels.
X60t and X61t use different ones.

Honestly, I'd just buy a X61T with SXGA+ and forget about swapping the screens back and forth...might end up being more trouble than it's worth.

I'm not concerned with issues with the x61 screen so much, just that the SXGA+ models are hard to find and tend to be relatively expensive. I'll figure it out..

Thanks for the info
