Try http://www.cablestogo.com or http://www.startech.com
You always pay too much if you go to the RatShack.

thanks! i was actually hoping for a site that sells the components of the cables (so i can make my own custom deal), kinda like radio shack but (as you say) with reasonable prices

I've gotten a lot of such components from Mouser Electronics www.mouser.com . Also a good source for some small screws, etc.
They also had an inch-thick paper catalog they sent out; not sure if they still do that.

Hi Alfio,

I work in live audio and there are several companies I deal with.
Depending on quantities purchased, some have better prices than others.

http://www.audiogear.com/audio-connectors-cable.html

This is a good company with reasonable small-order prices.

Look for the Neutrik NTP3RC.
Note that you will need pretty small diameter cable.

Are you building a cable that splits from stereo to two mono outputs?

Good health, Weogo

Yes, I have been jaded by (purported) technocrats. Almost as jaded by the tech itself.

I don't see components for making your own cables though?
