Hi all,
My X200 from Oct 2008 has been working perfectly up until a few weeks ago. Then it started dropping the WiFi connection with random intervals. When this happens, Windows is unable to find any wireless networks, and while the problems last the 5300 disappears from the Device Manager. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I'm using the latest Intel drivers for the 5300, can't say when I last updated them but it wasn't when the problems started.
Furthermore, some time ago a new device appeared in the Device Manager, called a "PCI Simple Communications Controller". Windows won't install it properly as it doesn't know what drivers to use, and I have no idea what this thing is. Could this be connected to the 5300 problems somehow?
I'm beginning to lean towards some kind of hardware malfunction. Has anyone else experienced this? All ideas are welcome.

Try to remove the 5300 board, clean its connector and reseat it.
Should be the 56k modem, use the thinkvantage system updater to install the related driver.Furthermore, some time ago a new device appeared in the Device Manager, called a "PCI Simple Communications Controller"
