making a restore cd
making a restore cd
T-43 will allow you to make only one restore copy. Option was activated but not used (canceled before burning cd's). Now the option is gone. Does anyone know how to reset the program or registry so I may make a set of restore cd's? Thank you
Re: making a restore cd
Welcome to the forum!
As far as I know, there is no way of manipulating your T43 into believing that a set of recovery CD's were not made, even if the "making" failed, as explained (but nevertheless try see the thread Create Recovery Disk problem pointing to the Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair media that might be useful?).
To me it seems that you have these two options:
1) Make an image of your current HDD (use e.g. Acronis True Image or something similar) to an external HDD. Then use the "Restore to Factory Contents" option in your T43 (see e.g. the thread Problem creating recovery CD set). After that, you'll have a fresh chance to make the original IBM Restore CD's. Then, when all is done OK, restore the image from the external HDD onto your original T43... then everything is as before, except that you now have a fine homemade set of recovery media!
2) Get a set of the recovery media for your T43 from someone else. Try post a "WTB" (Want To Buy) of "LF" (Looking For) in the Marketplace of this forum.

Re: making a restore cd
Tried the "Restore to Factory Contents" but the hard drive must have been replaced. Pressing the F-11 on boot up does nothing. Partition magic says there is no hidden partition on the drive.
