I recently got my brand new W520 with 160G SSD
Created a copy of the recovery disks of total 4 DVDs
del and combined the Q drive with C drive
then used Win7 to shrink the C drive from about 150GB to 60GB and the rest set for a new created D drive
Later recovered the system with the 4 recovery DVDs while choosing to recover C partition only
The weird thing happens after the new system installed. The D drive becomes the Q drive however datas in the D drive are still there.
Anyone has experienced such issue? My computer has factory default bios setting.

Re: weird thing happen after recover C partition
I have run into odd drive letter changes from time to time, also. It is an easy matter to go to Computer Management and change driver letter and path to the letter that you want. It will stay that way. I am guessing that Windows will sometimes rename the drives (or partitions) at the low level, and then we users can over ride that at any time, after the machine is up and running following the restore task.
