Am I correct to say that I have an
Intel Centrino Pro 900 series chipset
utilizing a T7300 (Intel Core 2 Duo) CPU
which is part of the Merom family
in the Santa Rosa platform?

I am not able to determine production date. Is it (e.g. 08/01) printed on a sticker?

At first, I was disappointed to see that there is a Intel Centrino Pro sticker on the palm rest. I was expecting to see Intel Core 2 Duo.

You are correct in all your assumptions.
Napa is in T60/R60.
Santa Rosa is in T61/R61
The date in format YY/MM is after the S/N (L3-12345) on the label on the bottom of the laptop.

Nothing is printed after "Type 8895 - W14" and "S/N L3-X9999" on the bar code label on the bottom of my laptop.

Does this make my T61 one of the first ones produced?

You can check the status of your machine's warranty at support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/warranty-status/default.page, and based on that date calculate the time of it's expiration backwards by the amount of time for which the machine was under warranty. This way you can get a rough estimation about it's actual production date.

I already tried this for you based on the serial number you stated, but there is either no warranty information available for your machine (happens once in a while), or the given serial number was, for obvious reasons, simply obfuscated by yourself in a very sane approach to prevent providing private information on a public forum.

You are correct.

In his very own initial posting, hoax32 listed the complete parts list for his own machine, which can be retrieved from either Lenovo at support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page, or also still from IBM at www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/parts by filling in the basic machine type and specific serial number of the machine in question. In the subsequent parts listing, the mainboard is usually specified, often two times, by the term "PLANAR", with the second number from the left usually being the respective FRU. You may want to try that with your own Thinkpad's type and serial number in order to see how it works.

Therefore, I have 42W7648 which is a motherboard designed for Merom CPU's.

I am not as fortunate as the gentleman in the other post, whose T61 has a Merom CPU mounted on a Penryn motherboard.
