T43: Horizontal B&W lines on desktop after computer wakes up

After waking up the T3 sometimes, horizontal black and white lines appear on the desktop. After rebooting, they disappear. Can this have anything to do with an external computer fan that is plugged into the usb port? Or does the graphic card need new drivers? Anybody?
