Won't wake after after install SSD + HDD
Gentlemen:
My thinkpad has difficulty waking up after I put it to sleep after installing SSD in the default port....
So the story is this:
I bought a crucial SSD m4 and take out my old T510 HDD (500 GB) normal HDD. And then I put my old HDD into the Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter and swap out the DVD ROM bay...
So now my system has a SSD and HDD. I have win 7 64 bit installed. But the problem is after doing this...
My thinkpad has difficulty waking up (take one minute to activate the HDD in the adaptar bay), but once I take out the HDD and put the CD rom back in. The system wake up immediately.
Could you please tell me how to resolve this issue. Thank you so much!

Have you updated the drives firmware?

If that doesn't work take the drive back and get a Corsair Force series. I have one in my T510 with the same setup as you and have no issues. The T510 doesn't have a SATA-III controller so you will not lose any performance and the Corsair Force series has faster write speeds.

That is weird. I have a similar setup using the Corsair Force GT and it works exactly like it should. Did you do a factory restore of the Win7 to the SSD? Are any lenovo programs or drivers removed?kazaaerato wrote:My thinkpad has difficulty waking up (take one minute to activate the HDD in the adaptar bay), but once I take out the HDD and put the CD rom back in. There are many situations where a sata3 drive will still perform better on a sata2 interface than a sata2 drive. Corsair Force (either sata2 version or the Force 3) are very good drives.redhook wrote:The T510 doesn't have a SATA-III controller so you will not lose any performance and the Corsair Force series has faster write speeds.

Re: Won't wake after after install SSD + HDD
Gentlemen, thanks for the help.
So basically I bought ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III. And I put the original HDD into this bay, and set the SSD has the main drive. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to use the Crucial 256 GB m4 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s CT256M4SSD2. Because it is an emergency project.
Any tips on how to solve this issue? Thank you.,

Is there a page file still active on the old HDD?
Are you sure you are not doing hibernation instead?
What method did you use to install the OS?

I download all the drives from lenovo updates. and the problem is not going away. the lenovo people say it is a software issue...not a hardware issue...

i don't know how to check the page file; but i do install some program files in the D drive which is the HDD in the adaptar bay... but i'm not sure if this is what causing the problem... there are not that many program in the D drive. the main application such as SAS and Office are all in C drive.
