Bootable USB stick from bootable floppy HOWTO

#1 Post by darkhelmet03 » Tue Apr 12, 2005 7:30 pm

I have a bootbale 1.44MB floppy and want to load the information into a USB stick and render it bootable. How is this accomplished? Do you know of a good HOWTO or have done it yourselves before?

Where's the usual helpful spirit on this forum?

I've actually gone ahead and downloaded teh program as per another fellow's advice on this forum:

"Go here and download the HP USB boot format tool. It worked for me!

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files ... 20306.html

This worked on a non-HP or DiskOnKey device. Also, didn't need a USB 2.0 for it, like the HP site says you need."

But you actually need to make a boot floppy disk first, and then point this HP utility program to this A: boot disk, before the HP program can make a USB stick bootable.

By the way:
a) not all USB sticks are bootable (my new 1 GB USB2 stick did boot, thankfully)
b) if your C: drive is NTFS, your computer cannot see the C: drive after obooting from USB stick.

good luck!

Why please ? The interface is the same, there is not reason for this statement.
Let's go'n'restart :-)
