Impossible to disable the screen rotation hotkeys?

#1 Post by Spyrahl » Tue Jan 31, 2012 12:36 am

Hi All,
I'm having trouble disabling the hotkeys that change the screen rotation. This is a non tablet W520 and I never change screen orientation, alas some of the apps I use also use the same key combo's. Specifically Ctrl-Alt-Arrow(up/down/left/right). I have disabled the hotkeys within the Intel Options (System devices shows both an Intel HD Graphics Family and NVidia Quadro 1000M for Display adapters). Even after a reboot Ctrl-Alt-Arrows still change screen orientation/rotation.

If anyone knows the secret to shutting off these hotkeys/shortcuts I would be ever so greatful!

Many thanks,

Uninstall the Lenovo Reading Optimizer and it should be fixed!
Had the same problem on my W520

Here is another method that worked for me (because I couldn't find the Reader thing anywhere). Right-click on the desktop, and there is a menu item "Graphics Properties..." (not the menu "Graphics Options").

It takes up to 30 seconds to open, so it takes patience. When it opens, the default tab in the left frame is probably "Display Devices". Select the tab "Display Settings" and there is an area titled "Rotation", and a check box labeled "Enable Rotation".

Make sure that is unchecked, and the problem should be solved.

HTH, :-)
