X220 Display Port output: Screen spills over edges of TV

#1 Post by jgrobertson » Mon Feb 06, 2012 7:42 pm

First, I love this X220 with i7 and SSD.

When I connect it to the Samsung 40" LED TV, through a Display Port to HDMI converter, the display spills over the edges of the TV display. The icon bar at the bottom is about half off the bottom of the TV Screen and the icons on the left side are about half off on the left of the TV screen.

I tried three different DP to HDMI converters and all the same.

I don't find a way to set the external display resolution. Any ideas on what is going on?

I ran across this before. IIRC, you need to change the display setting on the TV itself - try changing from wide to normal, or one of the other settings {I was using a Vizio tv}.

Sorry, I don't have a TV at my present location to verify.
