widi with t420/x220

Does anyone have widi working with t420/x220? I am looking to buy a new laptop and I really like the trackpoints in thinkpad laptops but its pretty dissapointing that only edge laptops with a crappy 1366 resolution have a hdmi port. Alternatively i can ditch the trackpoint and go to Z series for better resolution I guess.

I was hoping to use widi with t420/x220. Does anyone have it working? How is your experience like? I understand widi uses the integrated intel hd3000 , which I get with my i5 anyway even if i get the NVIDIA gpu but will it cause issues if i get the nvidia gpu?
I use my laptop for web surfing/watching videos (hoping to project it to the tv)/moderate programming (nothing an i3 can't handle) / and gaming in that order.
