LF T42 mobo and a cell phone part (DIT)
Hello everybody
My T42 (2373-3UU bought from Bill in Oct 04) suffered the dreaded GPU failure. I was able to reflow it once and have it work long enough to get through a bar exam. Now I need to press down on it when I start it up or else I get a black screen. I've looked through the current motherboard reflowing threads and some of the Frankenpad threads and truth be told, it was almost too much detail. I'm still really happy with my T42. I can use it on an unmoving surface (like the kitchen counter) but if I bump it too much, it goes to a black screen and I have to restart. I'd still be using it all the time if the GPU hadn't gone out.
So, my questions are these: Does anybody still sell a T42 board (ATI 64 MB) that I can put in?
Any idea how much that would cost?
Would a board from another T series work?
I have the 1400x1050 screen, would that cause any issues?
Should I just give this one up for parts and get a different TP? (X40, X60?)
Also, I was wondering if anybody knows of a "we part out dead cell phones" site where I can get a plastic back plate/case for a Titanium colored LG Voyager phone . I've seen people selling entire plastic phone bodies for $40 on eBay, but I don't want to pay that much. The back on my phone broke and now one hinge slips out the back so that when open to the keyboard, my phone looks like this < rather than this = with hinges between the two parts. The phone is functional and I'm short of cash to replace it right now, plus I haven't done any research into which provider I'd want to use, so I just want to fix the plastic back for now.
Thanks!
John

Any pre-T43 motherboard will work just fine...
Check the availability here:

Good luck.

Thanks, George.
BTW, if I want to go the X4x/X6x route, how often do you have those available? I've been around enough (often not logged in because I'm just reading) so I know you sell a lot on here.

Re: LF T42 mobo and a cell phone part (DIT)
www.theboardroom.info has mobos that would fit your T42.
However, I only have 32MB VideoRAM boards available.
All of them will fit and work in your machine, they are exact drop-in replacements.
Some mobos (R50 and R51) would come with a different PCMCIA slot, that accommodates only one PCMCIA card.
All other parts can be transplanted from your old mobo.
If you can live with less VRAM (and only one PCMCIA slot, depending on mobo), these are a very good option.
All boards have been professionally reballed and tested.
$60.- incl. shipping within USA.

Re: LF T42 mobo and a cell phone part (DIT)
Bump...I've been offline for a week due to an ISP equipment issue. I appreciate the mobo information, but I'm still looking for the cell phone part in case anybody out there has a dead LG Voyager sitting around.
