T520 / W520 Screen Lid Battery LED behavior

#1 Post by Hydrogen » Fri Feb 10, 2012 6:05 pm

Everyone - please provide your experience with your T520 or W520.

ALL previous generations of ThinkPads I am familiar with including the T510 behave per the User Guide documentation which states that the battery LED on the lid will remain lit solid upon full charge while plugged into the AC adapter (or dock).

But, I was dismayed when my W520 I received to replace a T520 I should have never ordered exhibited a strange behavior. Once the battery fully charges, the battery LED turns off even though it remains plugged-in. In sleep/stand-by/off doesn't matter.

If I unplug the adapter and plug it back in, the LED will blink a few times (3 I believe) and then turn back off. Battery is 100% fully charged when this happens.

Before shipping it back, I checked the T520 and it's behavior was the same.

Anyone seeing the same behavior? This is in contradiction to the documentation. Did they mess up a BIOS build somewhere along the way or is it the 520 series machines?

Hello!

My T520 behaves the same as yours. I think this is not a problem.

Report the same on my W520. Looks like they changed the behavior. I prefer it this way though.
