T60 stuck at checking the status of embedded security chip

#1 Post by Darkcloudbird » Fri Feb 24, 2012 2:18 am

Hi everyone.

I just ran into trouble with security chip. I am trying to virus-scan and tried to enter into "safe mode with networking". here are the steps that put me into trouble

1. run>msconfig>safe boot with networking
2. reboot
3. BAM!, stuck at the checking the status of security chip

here are the steps that I took to solve(but never worked :( )

1. I forced reboot and press F8 (boot menu) hoping that I might get back to normal boot, I tried to selected several options from boot menu (safe mode, last know good, command prompt), but it is still booting into safe mode with networking (as I set from msconfig) and stuck again.

2. I forced reboot and tried to disable security chip from BIOS (inacitve, disable) but it still not pass that "checking security chip.

3. I googled around and people saying uninstall xxx, blur blur, etc.. but I cant even got into windows and I can not even pass that checking point.

any suggesstion would be greatly apprecitaed. please please.

Thanks
dcb

steps that I took

1. disable security chip from BIOS
2. reboot
3. wait several minutes at "checking security chip..."*** (I mean several minutes)
4. dialogbox appear. click ok
5. proceed to login
6. launch ThinkVantage>Client Security Solution>
7. Advanced>Manage security policies
8. Logon to windows>disable client security interface
9 . Advanced>Change security chip status>Deactivate
10. Ok reboot.
11. no more waiting for "checking security chip..."

Can someone explain just what "checking security chip" is doing?

I have had a "stuck" scenario .... right after getting an upgrade to my anti virus program. Only way out was to boot in Safe Mode and uninstall the antivirus program.
