is it possible to mod T42 to sata HDD?

Hello,

I would like to know is it possible to replace standard EIDE onto SATA HDD intefrface in Thinkpad T42 2378DUU

No.

SATA is only possible via Ultrabay SATA HDD adapter or use PATA-> microSATA adapter that allows you to use 1.8 inch SATA HDD's.

The SATA mod is only possible on T43/T43p, R52 and X41/X41t motherboards.
