42T0825 Wifi for T60P

#1 Post by taichi » Fri Mar 02, 2012 1:23 pm

Is it 100% certain that a FRU 42T0825 Wifi Card (often recommended on this thread) is compatible with a T60P without any BIOS modification?

Thanks

Yes, I've done it several times myself. Two or three antennas will work for N wifi hookup.

I have a 2623 DDU. Is there a way of determining if I have the requisite antenna arrangement for N with this card?

Thanks

No you don't.

However, the card in question will work just fine with two antennae only.

You could use one of your WWAN connectors as well, presuming you don't need WWAN.

It sounds like you're saying my Thinkpad has two antennas, which will support G on the card in question.

I've never used the WWAN...which is useful on Verizon?

Thanks

No.

These antennae will support "N" as well, even if only two out of three hookups are used.

Whether your WWAN is useful...well, you're the only one who can decide that... :)

I've seen the Atheros 42T0825, new, for as low as $20 shipped from China. Will this work on the ThinkPad, or is there a special iteration of it that I need?

Thanks.

As long as it's a genuine Lenovo card with a FRU number, it should work just fine, I've never ordered anything from these Chinese re-sellers, though.

This is a bit off topic, but I decided to try an Intel 5300n in my x60 since I upgraded our network with a dual band N router. I had this card in a T400 and it worked very well.

I flashed the BIOS with one that disables the whitelist and ordered the card for $17. I will let you all know how it works.

I bought an 42T0825 off a Chinese seller on eBay just recently. It was for my T60 and I connected just two antenna leads. Working perfectly at N speeds. Can now view HD material from my NAS over Wi-Fi, whereas before it was stuttering/freezing all the time.

Could you give me the name of the seller?
How long have you had the card installed?

Thanks
