Hi,
My original battery is 10.8v and 4.4ah, which became unable to be recharged after 5 years' extensive use. Today I bought a new one, same voltage (10.8v) but slightly different current (4.6ah).
Now I am charging it. The AC adapter feels very hot! (The new battery once stopped charging after reaching 18% of its full capacity, but after discharging it a little bit, it resumed the charging process, presently having reached 76%.)
My concern:
Is it safe to use the new battery, given that there is a 0.2ah difference in current?
Thanks!

The 4.6Ah only means that it has a larger capacity than your previous battery.
You can even get (9-cell) batteries with 7.2Ah.
All of them are 10.8V.
Check that you only use an original IBM charger (16V/72W/4.5Amp).

Thanks for your reply. For "IBM charger" do you mean "IBM AC Adapter"?
Mine is the original IBM AC Adapter with the following specifications:
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 1.9A
OUTPUT: 16V = 4.5A
It does not show 72W anywhere on the body of the adapter.
