T60 motherboard display issue. Fuse?
T60 motherboard display issue. Fuse?
Hey all,
The motherboard on my 1951-3gu T60 will not power the backlight.
Display pixels work properly, external monitor works fine, and I replaced the entire screen assembly (lid+inverter+panel+connector) to no avail. The screen remains near-black.
Do I have further repair options?
Fuse soldering on the board?
Thank you.

Remove adapter and battery, then remove keyboard,KB bezel and palmrest.
Around the LCD connector, check on the motherboard for fuses.
Use the list and pictures from this post to give you an idea what they look like: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=85964
Use a Multimeter (set to beep if Continuous) testlead at each end of the fuse.
If OK, it beeps, if not it is busted.
Repair by piggyback soldering the same type fuse on top of it.
Have fun.

Thank you, RealBlackStuff!
I'll have to learn how to solder... That particular T60 build is rare and valuable (C2D + Intel graphics = quiet), so I can't easily find a replacement.
Fun will be had indeed.

FWIW...you can transplant your CPU onto another Intel-based T60 board which are dime-a-dozen nowadays...RichardI wrote:
