Hi everyone!
just got an IBM x40, 1.4Ghz, 1.5Gb Ram and I wanted to get rid of the 1.8 Hitachi. The laptop was loaded, initially with Win XP.
I bought the PA-CF18H adapter and a Transcend 16Gb UDMA 300x CF card. all done, I installed the cf and booted Ubuntu via an USB flash.
In Disk Utility, the ATA Transcend drive appears with a warning label 'disk outside design parameters' and some recommendation to back-up and replace disk?!
I read that these will work 'without any intervention'
now what's weird: I got the old, crappy Kingston Elite pro 16GB 133x CF from my DSLR camera and after installed with the adapter, the disk utility reads 'Disk Healthy' and after a speed test it reads at 65Mb/s (vs 17Mb/s Hitachi 1.8")
and I don't understand why. I bought the Transcend in high speed 300x and UDMA.. any suggestions??
Thank you
Tib
