LCD Swap from T60 to T61

I've just gotten hold of a T61 4:3 model

Unfortunately, it only has a 1024x768 panel.. However, I do have a spare T60 4:3 around that has a SXGA+ panel. Would it just be the case of a direct swap without having to worry about changing cables or anything like that?

Yes, as long as both panels are the same physical size, you can just swap the panels.

You can also swap the entire lid - may be easier. You'll lose the rollcage, but the machine will be a little lighter and symmetric.

That's good to know. Does that mean that the T60 will take the asymmetrical lid too?

It's just that I want to keep the T60 usable as well.

Unfortunately the hinge width of a 4:3 T61 is wider than the corresponding width on a 4:3 T60, so I don't think you can just swap the lids.

seems to me I have done this before, which is why I posted.

The width I think you are referring to is what you visibly see when looking at the laptop with the LCD screen opened up, and that the hinges are smaller/larger between these 2 models. However where it matters is how the portion of the hinge that go down into the structure frame (the part you do not see unless you have it taken apart), which I believe is an exact match between the two models. That is if you are swapping the complete lid between the two models...
