Blinking Battery & Charge lights
Hey all --
Been awhile since I've been on these forums.. I've missed everyone =]
Quick question... I have a T400 that is having battery issues. The laptop powers on just fine when it is plugged directly into the wall without its battery plugged in.
When you plug in the battery and attempt to power on the laptop, the battery and charge lights rapidly blink and the computer does not power on. I also tested it with a non-oem battery and another oem battery that was in another T400 machine.
The contact points on the laptop don't look bad/corroded/etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions on things I can try? It would be appreciated -- especially since warranty just went out 2 weeks ago =\

You've got a blown fuse that controls the charging circuit, most likely...

Re: Blinking Battery & Charge lights
Thanks for the reply -- is this something that can be fixed or replaced?
Re: Blinking Battery & Charge lights
If you can find the blown fuse on the motherboard, it is possible to "piggy-back" solder a new one over the blown one. But, these are extremely tiny fuses...too small for me to work with. Others have been successful with this operation, but I've failed every time I've tried.

I appreciate your response -- it sounds like it is going to be pretty difficult to replace that fuse and I'm not sure how reliable it will be afterwards... so I guess it is time for a mobo replacement.. too bad didn't have this problem a few weeks before when the warranty was still valid, heh
